Hello guys!!
The powder mountain hat has finally arrived! Inspired by the beautiful powder mountain ski resort located in Utah. The powder mountain hat is a quick and beginner-friendly crochet project. I think if you have never made a hat before, this will be a great way to start. It is made of a rectangle, so you don’t have to worry about working in the round if you are just getting started on crochet.
I am so proud and excited about this pattern and I hope you enjoy making it as much as I did! So, let’s get started!
Don’t forget to pin this image this for later!
Today I will show you how to make the adult version of this hat. If you decide to purchase the ad free pdf printable version, you will get the adult, child, and toddler sizes included.

notes
- Chain 1 does not count as a stitch ·
- Hat is worked flat and sewed together at the end.
- You should always end your row with a half double crochet.
- Try not to make your slip stitches too tight or the top of the hat may end up tighter than the band.
Pattern (adult hat)
Chain 6
1: HDC on second chain from the hook, and across. Turn (5 STS)
2: CH 1, HDC across on TLO (5 STS)
Repeat row 2 until your band measures 20 inches long.
body of the hat
Row 1: Make an even number of SC across the band, chain 1 turn ( I made 42 for mine, but you can make more if you need too. Just make sure it is an even number.
Row 2: *SS on first stitch, HDC on next* repeat from *to* across. CH 1 turn. Repeat row 2 until your hat measures 8.5 inches tall. Do not fasten of leave a long tail to sew the hat.
Fold the rectangle in half (wrong side facing you) sew or slip stitch the sides together.
To close the top of the hat, cut a long strand of yarn and with your needle weave it in and out the stitches on top of the hat. Pull to close the top.
Now you can weave in all of your ends and add your pom pom to your hat! Don’t forget to tag me if you make this hat on Instagram, I love seeing all your makes!
