This chunky thermal hat will sure keep you warm when you are out and about on a cold snowy day. I Specifically designed it for that reason, making the brim extra thick and chunky!

Another thing I love about this hat is how simple and quick it is to make! I know I say this A LOT, but almost all of my patterns are created for the beginners in mind, and this one is no exception! There is also a YouTube tutorial to help along!

Brim
CH 10, 9 , 8
R1: SLT on 2nd CH from hook and in every ST across. (9, 8, 7)
R2: CH 1 turn, SLT in the BLO in every ST across.(9, 8, 7)
R3: Repeat row 2 until the band measures 19 inches long (my band was 81 rows in total for an adult hat) 18.5 inches long for a child-size and 18 long for a toddler.
to close the brim grab the two ends together and SLT across.
Body of the hat
R1: CH 1, Place 1 SC evenly on top of every ridge around the brim. I made 41 (for the adult size)
R2: You will now be working in continuous rounds. Make an ESC in every stitch around.
R3: Repeat row 2 until the hat measures 11 inches tall including the brim on the hat. 10.5 inches for child and 10 inches tall for a toddler.
Closing the hat
Tie off your work. Weave in and out of the stitches with the remaining strand on top of the hat. Pull tight to close and weave in the ends. You can now attach your pom or leave it as is if you wish.
